Due to the advances in measurement and information technology, process industry is also passing through the era of data explosion; historical data are available in abundance. The data derived approach to process monitoring and supervision seeks to construct a representation of a process from a set of easily accessible measurements that quantify its behavior, without explicitly assuming any a priori knowledge of the underlying phenomena. However, the task is daunting and remains a major concern.

Initially, a grid using several different values of J and S is built and then based on the process output, the plant model is identified. Based on the mean square error (MSE) between predicted process output and actual output in each grid point, the stiction parameters are estimated. 3.
