What a joy it is, then, and what a bell-weather indication of important things, to finally get to hold and see and start to use Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals (Zondervan; $24.95.) Although they fought the prominent publisher's marketing instincts to insist that their names not be engraved on the hardback cover (it's a prayer-book, after all!) the chief editors are Shane Claiborne, Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, and Enuma Okoro. (The marketing compromise now includes a handsome paper half-sleeve wrap-around with their names shown, unlike the earlier version of the cover shown here.) Knowing that it was "new monastics" who did this does help place this as an exceptional prayer resource and helps explain the "ordinary radicals" reference in the title.
